| Fault / Alarm | Likely Cause | Diagnostic Direction |
|---|
| E-01 / E-02 / E-03 Overcurrent | Short ramp time, heavy load, rotating motor restart, low grid voltage, wiring issue, undersized VFD. | Check load jam, motor cable, acceleration/deceleration, motor current, and supply voltage. | | E-04 / E-05 / E-06 / E-07 Overvoltage | Input voltage issue, short deceleration, high inertia load, regenerative energy. | Check input voltage, deceleration time, braking resistor/unit, and load inertia. | | E-08 Undervoltage | Low input voltage or power dip. | Measure input voltage during start and load condition. | | E-09 VFD overload | Load too high, braking current too high, short acceleration, V/F setting issue, undersized drive. | Compare output current with motor and VFD rating; check load and ramp. | | E-10 / A-10 Motor overload | Low-speed heavy load, stalled motor, wrong overload setting, sudden load change. | Check motor heating, cooling, overload coefficient, and mechanical load. | | E-12 Input phase loss | Input phase missing, poor contact, supply abnormality. | Check three-phase input, breaker, contactor, and terminals. | | E-13 Output phase loss | Motor lead abnormal, winding imbalance, output side issue. | Check U/V/W cable and motor winding balance. | | E-14 Module protection | Instant overcurrent, output short, fan/air duct issue, high ambient, internal issue. | Power off, inspect motor cable, output short, fan, air path, and panel temperature. | | E-15 / E-16 Ground short | Motor/cable short to ground or input/output wiring error. | Do insulation test. Do not run repeatedly before correcting wiring/motor fault. | | E-17 / A-17 Overheating | Blocked air duct, fan failure, high ambient temperature, poor ventilation. | Clean air path, verify fan, improve panel cooling, reduce thermal load. | | E-26 / A-26 Communication fail | Baud mismatch, serial wiring issue, host not working, timeout setting issue. | Check 485+/485-, baud rate, slave ID, communication settings, and PLC/HMI command. | | E-41 Analog channel disconnected | AI1/AI2 signal out of range or poor contact. | Check analog wiring, signal range, GND, shield, and input configuration. |
High-Value Failure Insight Many VFD faults are not VFD hardware failures. The root cause is often incorrect wiring, motor insulation weakness, overloaded mechanical load, poor cooling, wrong ramp time, high inertia without braking, analog signal mismatch, or RS485 parameter mismatch. |
Reset Rule Do not repeatedly reset the same fault without diagnosis. Repeated reset can damage the VFD, motor, wiring, braking resistor, or driven machine. Check cause first, then reset. |
